BUILDING RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT
To get back to generalities the question
of the iniquitous Class B has caused so much concern that the Building
Research Establishment have introduced yet another test to try and resolve
properties in this category. It consists of submerging samples in water
for up to a year to try and enhance nature one of the more absurd activities
this establishment has come up with!
Focus an this agency tends to the thought whether they
had anything to do with the post war disaster known as Concrete Cancer
and which affected the entire nation. Someone decided to replace steel
Reinforcing with nonferrous metal which in a short time produced catastrophic
results and it inevitably leads to the question, "Was the Building
Research Establishment involved in this disaster?" If so the present
worry over the administration of this regime is even more so.
One aspect of them is the fact that over the years they have been shunted
from Government department to government department. They were with
the Environment Agency. Then shifted to the
Department of the Environment, Transport and
Regions and then to the Department of Trade
and Industry and it now seems that they have been privatized!!
Have they become a liability to the Government?
An explanation is overdue.

The other participant in this unsavoury
affair is the vaunted Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors-
Anyone who saw the TV programme where a
house was secretly fitted with cameras and then surveyors were set to
"survey" the property will be in no doubt about these people
when it was proved that only one of several "surveyors" did
his job properly and that after having been given their fee in advance
which is general practice.
How can two organisations with questions
marks against them be allowed to continue to reap rich rewards from
what has fast become a Scam?
